An avid photographer from an early age, I began drawing to capture my experience of homelessness and poverty when without a camera in later life. As a late arrival to art education at 48, I was anxious to learn the techniques of art through formal education but also to dive into my own creative practice immediately.
My drive is the emotional happiness and balance gained from accessing some brutal truths and uncomfortable realities which the creative process allows me. In the conceptual series Food Frustration, I used live food substances as primary mediums initially to explore my own dysfunctional relationship with food. This is has become my central agenda for artistic practice.
I continue to research, write and develop further conceptual artwork using food as the primary medium to investigate food as an addictive substance and its impact on individuals, families and society.
